The death of Hazel Hickey of Fredericton, NB, occurred at York Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008. Born in Brighton, England she was the daughter of the late David and Mable (Perrin) Sharpe and the loving wife of 62 years Thomas Hickey.


Hazel was a loving and devoted wife to Thomas for 62 years. She was a War Bride having met Thomas in 1945 followed by one year of courtship and marriage. Hazel and Thomas’s love of children made it possible for 21 foster children to share in the loving home they supplied for over 7 years. They shared good and bad times always together including during her recent illness. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Survived by her husband, Thomas; one daughter, Tina Compton (Bill) of Geary; three grandsons, Danny Compton (Lisa), Dean (Sarah), Darren (O); great -grandchildren, Jennesa Brighton, Molly, Casey, Teagan and Cora Compton; two siblings, Iris and David.

Predeceased by her parents; siblings, Raymond, Gordon, Sheila, Maureen and Pauline.

There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Archdeacon John Sharpe will officiate. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.oromoctofh.com
