Obituary of Gayle Norma Hewitt

It is with sadness that the family of Gayle Norma Hewitt announce her passing on March 19, 2024, Fredericton, NB.  Born on September 15, 1949, she was a daughter of the late John and Bernice (Nason) Morgan.

Gayle was predeceased by her parents; husband, Arnold Hewitt, brother, Douglas Morgan and sister, June Ball.

Gayle is survived by her children, Ginette Decker (John Gillan), Dayle Peterson, Danny Hewitt (Beth), Kathy Stauffer (Alvin) and Tanya Hewitt; grandchildren, Mitch, Brandi, Bailey, Lilly, Ronalee, Leigh, Ryan, Dan, Brandi, Brad and Cassie; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Charters; several nieces and nephews.

Mom loved to knit and sew and took great pleasure in making clothes, curtains, quilts and sweaters for herself and others. She enjoyed watching hockey games and NASCAR racing.  Gayle and Arnold loved to travel Canada and USA, attending many Blue Grass Festivals along the way. Lots of time was shared with family and friends at the cottage in Lake George.  Mom was a life-long member of the Nasonworth Baptist Church, taking part in the choir and the Women’s Missionary Society.  Mom was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Happy Chatters and Crown Jewels of Canada Society. Mom worked her entire career in Human Resources with the Province of New Brunswick.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses at 4 SE at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and to the Staff of Thomas Hall, Shannex, who provided such wonderful care to Gayle.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Nasonworth Baptist Church from 4-7 pm.  A funeral service will be held also at Nasonworth Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 2 pm, Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating.  Interment will take place in the Nasonworth Baptist Cemetery, at a later date.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Nasonworth Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
